Remains of a car tossed up on the side of Overseas highway, mixed in with hurricane debris following Irma on Lower Matecumbe Key on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017

The Sheehan's reported that a tornado touched down on Bayview Dr. in Safety Harbor, ripping off a roof there.  At their property it ripped up the chain link fencing and took out the Tiki Hut on the dock.

Typically the worst of the damage from Hurricane Irma was on the ocean side of our island.  But numerous members of LMKA have reported significant damage on the bayside and any damage at all is difficult to deal with when so many people are needing help. Look no further than Robbie's and Sandy Cove Condominium on the preceding page to see this storm was without mercy.

Property owners on Lower Matecumbe and throughout Islamorada and the Florida Keys should be congratulated for the helpfulness they demonstrated, their sense of humor during difficult times and their patience as we all work to get back the normal beauty of the Florida Keys.
